Weekending Up North

Even though summer seems to be in full force down here in Minneapolis, our neighbors up north, in Duluth, are weeks behind.   It was practically June and icebergs dotted the lake and trees only just began budding.  We....
Gawked at the ice and enjoyed the cool breeze off of Superior.
Saw the lift bridge in action.
 Enjoyed stunning vistas from far,
 and near at Gooseberry Falls
Pondered Devil's Kettle at Judge C.R. Magney State Park.
Relaxed by the shores of the Brule.
 Hustled for the perfect photo.
 Hunted for agates.
And explored the shore.

Bowls in white

More experiments in red manganese clay.  I particularly like the effect of the white slip on the red clay.    I will be toying around with that concept for a while.

Spring Camping

For the first time in 5 years, we had the best Root River Camping weather.  Emily and I teamed up again as the "Reigning Cat and Dogs".  We repurposed this logo from our giant ski.  We...
Enjoyed hogging most of the camping space at Cushon's Peak.

Took advantage of some good photo ops, post race.
 Had a competitively friendly start.
 Hunted for mushrooms.
This variety is called Dryads Saddle.  A meaty variety with a slight lemon flavor.  Our first harvest as foragers!
And enjoyed being out in nature after a frigid winter.
